The Secret Machines…

Lets give it up one time for the drum sound on the Secret Machines’ Now Here Is Nowhere album.

Released In 2004, I jus discovered this band. They’re hella lit. What really caught my attention was their drum sound. Big, Phat, yet open and alive. Natural but still overdriven, as a record producer and recording engineer, my ear is super particular about the ‘sound’ of a record, not just the notes played, but the sound  from the gear, mics, room, the totality of the tone. And let me tell you, the sound of Secret Machines is prob my favorite thing about the album. Hats off to you Jeff Blenkinsopp, the record producer and mixer on the album. She’s a beaut.

To learn more about Jeff B, check out Ears NYC. I’m yet to get into the rest of Secret Machines discog, as its a long one…but hey i got time…looking forward to it. Rest in Peace to their original guitarist and vocalist Benjamin Curtis, who passed away in 2010 from lymphoma.
